Geographic Position Yingkou lies in the south of Liaoning Province to the northeast of Liaodong Bay, regarded as a binding-site among the central Liaoning cities and Liaodong Peninsula Economic Zones. It is about 160 km away from either Shenyang or Dalian, and within 90-minute-drive to other 9 cities in Liaoning Province.
Population & Area Home to the population over 2.3 million, Yingkou is a city with a land area of 5402 square kilometers, which consists of two county-level cities, i.e. Dashiqiao and Gaizhou, and four districts, i.e. Bayuquan, Zhanqian, Xishi and Laobian, among which Bayuquan district is also in the list of state-level-economic technical development zones.
Temperate Climate Yingkou is located in the coastal regions of Bohai Sea where the North Temperate Zone is, and the Pacific Ocean allows residents to enjoy a mild climate with four distinct seasons, proper precipitation and rich sunshine. The annual average temperature is 9.8℃.
Abound Natural Resources The magnesite reserve, among the 39 kinds of mineral resource in Yingkou, ranks the top position in the world, and the reserves of talcum and boron feldspar rank first in China, as well as the resources such as salt, fruits, rice, aquatic products, Chinese herbal medicine, cashmere and tussah is abundant in Yingkou. There are so many places famous for its scenery and historical relics, such as Taoism famous mountain, natural beach, forest, spring, temple & tower, etc.
Thriving Economy Yingkou City is one of the rapidest economic growth areas in northeast China. In the year of 2006, 45.77 billion Yuan RMB of GDP was fulfilled and so was the 73.18 billion Yuan RMB of Gross Output Value for over-scaled industries. There are developed industries in Yingkou such as metallurgy, petrochemical, mechanic, textile, light industries, construction material, medicine, electronics, etc., covering various fields of industries, among which over-scaled industries are more than 1000 and the outputs of some products, such as refractory materials, cyanuric chloride, catalyst, grand pianos and security doors are listed on the top in China.
Foreign Investment By the end of 2006, there are 2008 foreign invested companies and enterprises from 40 counties and regions which have been approved and set up, and meanwhile contracted foreign capitals has amounted 5.29 billion USD and actually utilized foreign investment 1.77 billion USD.
Ports There are one city and two ports, the old harbor areas of Yingkou port is located in the Yingkou main city which was opened in the year 1862.
As the second largest port and geographically the nearest marine outlet from the backland in Northeast China, Yingkou port is one of the 14 key coastal ports in China. With deep water and low wave as well as silted and frozen free, Yingkou port is open for navigation throughout the year. Based on the two present port areas of Bayuquan and Yingkou, Xianrendao Island port area is under construction and Beihai port area is under planning. Bayuquan port in Bayuquan District, usually known as Yingkou Economic and Technology Development Zone, is the main port of the two with completed port functions.
